ep 13, 2002 Letters to the editor Politics did not belong at memorial; vigil meant for reflection, not agendas At the Sept. 11 vigil, I quietly sat on the grass listening to the names of those who were murdered one year ago. While attending, I noticed an organized group sitting in the middle of the vigil area with a large sign that read "Peace Forum." Upon leaving, I walked past the group and saw posters with messages such as "Don't turn our tragedy into war" and "No to war with Iraq." The Peace Forum members need to understand that political statements have no place at memorial vigils. Political groups should find other venues for their political views.
